About us: The Xavier institute of social science (XISS) was established as an extension department of St. Xavier college, Ranchi, in 1955 with the objective of training young men and women in rural development, personnel management and industrial relations. In 1973 the institute was registered as a separate educational society under the societies

Mission: Xavier institute of social service (XISS) has an earnest mission of developing human resources for various sectors such as industries, business, rural development, healthcare etc in the Chotanagpur region. One of the prime objectives of the institute is to develop professionals who are down to earth, having deep concern for fellow human beings and sense of responsibility towards society

Applications are invited through XAT for two year full time PGDM programmes with specialization in

Personnel management, rural development, information management, finance management, marketing management

Ranked 4th in eastern India by the week and 31st all India by the outlook in 2010

Seats available: Total number of seats available is seventy five (75) each in Personnel Management, Rural Development; sixty (60) each in Information Management, Finance Management, Marketing Management programs

Out of the above fifty percent seats are reserved for SC/ST and christian candidates

Eligibility for admission: Minimum qualification for admission to the two years full-time post-graduate management programs at the Institute is three years bachelor’s degree in any discipline recognized by association of Indian Universities. However preference will be given to engineering, economics, commerce, management and computer science graduates and candidates with relevant work experience

Candidates appearing for their final year or final semester of their graduate degree examination in academic year 2010- 11 are also eligible to appear for the admission process. Such candidates, if called for interview, should submit the copy of admit card or a letter from the principal of the college where they are studying to that effect

Admission procedure: Three stage admission process is followed by the Institute as per the guidelines of AICTE

These stages are; All India Management Admission Test (XAT); group discussion; Personal Interview

A candidate desirous of seeking admission in the Institute will have to appear in an all India level management admission test organized by XLRI Jamshedpur (XAT 2011) on January 2nd 2011

For admission to batches 2011-13, scores of only XAT 2011 will be accepted

Candidates will have to apply online for appearing in XAT 2011 by visiting www.xlri.net.in and will have to select XISS as affiliated institute

Based on XAT 2011 scores, candidates who have applied for admission at the institute will be short listed and will be called for group discussion and personal interview to be held at the institute premises in the month of February/March 2011

Weightage for admission: XAT 2011 scores 50%; past academic record 10%; group discussion 15%; personal interview 25%

Publication of list of short-listed candidates for group discussion/personal interview: 10th February, 2011

Publication of list of selected candidates: 15th March, 2011

Last date for admission of selected candidates: 15th April, 2011

Last date for admission of wait listed candidates: 30th April, 2011
