MBA colleges, which have a large number of vacant seats, are offering sops to woo students. This comes especially after the government opened the admission to even those students who had not cleared entrance exams.

As per a source, the colleges are offering gigantic concessions in fees besides promising full scholarship. They claim to send students on study tours abroad as well as preference in placements. It may be noted that some colleges had resorted to sending SMSes and emails to attract students and fill up the seats.

Ironically, the fees prescribed by the Directorate of  Technical Education and Shikshan Shulk Samiti start from as high as Rs.50,000/-. But colleges are waving it completely to attract students. The colleges, especially those which have opened in the last couple of years, have taken the admission carrot to another level as they are offering money from their own pockets to the students to take admission.

After the government relaxed MBA CET criteria and extended the last date of admissions to September 25, colleges have started student hunting to fill up huge vacant seats that were threatening their survival. Taking advantage of the situation, the students too started bargaining with colleges, preferring to join ones those offered more opportunities.
